of Amherst County
Of Amherst County's primary focus is to assist individuals in overcoming food insecurity by providing nutritious meals through food kitchens and selective shopping Food Warehouse.
In addition to assisting with food insecurity, NHN will serve as a resource hub that helps to connect those in need to area resources that can help build self-sufficiency and improve their quality of life.
A disproportionate amount of Amherst County citizens live in poverty compared to those who are considered upper-middle and high socio-economic status. Of those citizens, an even higher percentage are children. Some 15% of the county lives below the national poverty line, and 20% of those individuals are children.
Our organization was born to help alleviate that need.
